I just learned that Porcupine Had a Fuzzy Sweater is a finalist for Missouri's 2026-2027 Show Me Award! Wow! I'm gobsmacked!
The Missouri Association of School Librarians winnows down to 10 a list of picture books for readers in grades 1-3. Those 10 books will be read and studied next schoolyear and voted on next spring.
I'm incredibly grateful that Porcupine will be included with the other nine finalists and will be loved by even more kids.
And speaking of even more kids, did I tell you that Porcupine was recently published in Chinese? What a ride!
And while I'm at it, I want to AGAIN thank the Missouri Association of School Librarians for including another of my books, Who am I? Sharks and Other Ocean Animals, on the 2026 Dogwood List for recommended nonfiction for children.
Of course, none of this would be possible without my publishers, Magination Press and Highlights Press, and the amazing illustrators of these books, Angela Edmonds and Travis Foster!
